    Ralph Winterton(1600–1636)

    English classical scholar and Regius Professor of Physic at Cambridge, best known for his edition of the minor Greek poets, a widely used anthology that gathered fragments and shorter works of ancient Greek verse into a single scholarly volume.

    A scholarly anthology of minor Greek poets—including Hesiod, Theocritus, Moschus, Bion, Musaeus, Theognis, Phocylides, and the Golden Verses of Pythagoras—with Winterton's own critical observations on Hesiod. First published in 1635, this Cambridge edition became a standard classical reference.
