    St. François de Sales(1567–1622)

    Catholic bishop of Geneva and one of the most widely read spiritual writers of the early modern period. He is famed for gentle, practical counsel directed to laypeople, arguing that holiness is possible within ordinary life and vocation. His writings became classics of accessible devotion and pastoral psychology.
