French Catholic mystic (Madame Guyon) known for writings on interior prayer, self-surrender, and the life of 'pure love.' Her teaching became a flashpoint in late seventeenth-century spiritual controversy, leading to interrogation and imprisonment. Despite condemnation, her works circulated widely in translation and became foundational for later Quietist and devotional readers.
